Today, June 17th, marks the fourth day of EURO 2024 with three matches scheduled. The earliest match of the day features a clash between Romania and Ukraine. Currently, the balance of power heavily favors Ukraine, and experts predict that coach Rebrov’s team will secure an easy victory.

However, the outcome was far from expected. Goalkeeper Lunin (Ukraine) had a poor performance. In the initial minutes, Ukraine’s players dominated the field. Although coach Rebrov’s team did not create many chances, they exerted considerable pressure, making it nearly impossible for Romania to advance the ball in the first 20 minutes.

Just when it seemed that Ukraine would soon open the scoring, an unexpected turn of events occurred. In the 29th minute, Ukraine’s defense fumbled during a play, and goalkeeper Andriy Lunin’s careless pass created an opportunity for Romania. Stanciu seized the moment and delivered a stunning strike, putting Romania ahead.

Following this somewhat fluky goal, Ukraine’s players lost their composure. The dominance they exhibited in the opening minutes dissipated. The first half ended with Romania leading 1-0.

In the second half, any hopes of Ukraine reclaiming their strong position were dashed as the situation worsened. In the 53rd minute, Razvan Marin unleashed a powerful one-touch shot from outside the box. Lunin was slow to react, failing to save the ball. Four minutes later, Romania extended their lead to 3-0. Dennis Man made an impressive run and set up Dragus for a goal.

Trailing 0-3, Ukraine lost all motivation to fight back. Their attempts at attacking were disjointed and lacked coordination. In the end, Ukraine suffered a 0-3 defeat to Romania.
